The 16 best places for steak in Shanghai (2024)

Great hotel. Location is fantastic if you need to be on this side of the bund this is a great spot. Not all hotels are ideal for working but here the roomHas a nice desk and plenty of room to actually work from hotel. I was upgraded to a river view and I have to say. The view was great. The staff and housekeeping was top notch. The restaurant downstairs is fantastic for breakfast. Ate there almost every day. In addition to the buffet you can have eggs made to order, fresh ice cream scooped, noodles, and also dumplings. There is also a bar open late. It gets a bit loud late at night but it’s not bad for a night cap.Overall this hotel is a great choice if you are in Shanghai. The staff is fantastic and will go above and beyond to help you out.You are also walking distance to several malls and also the three big towers.

Outstanding service on every level from all staff members. From check in to check out, everyone we encountered was eager to help us and serve us! I would particularly like to mention Lynn (and all the staff) in the Club Lounge for being so helpful and accommodating and always having a smile. Getting served by the restaurant manager at Zest was also nice, she was very friendly and personable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding as well. On the day of check out we were allowed to check out at 4pm at no extra charge, the club lounge staff held our luggage, and set up a taxi for us to the airport later that evening. We were allowed to stay in the lounge, use the restaurant, and Qi bar until the taxi came. When the taxi arrived, we were privately escorted downstairs to find that our bags were already in the cab and waiting for us. Service is what makes this hotel so special, however the Club River Room we had was very luxurious as well and had an outstanding view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. I will absolutely be back to this property and highly recommend it to anyone in Shanghai.

Great hotel with a prime location in Shanghai with the quietness and privacy you need.Cason at the reception was very nice and caring. He’s brought up the service level in prime hotels. My partner had an amazing trip and hotel experiences with him. After all 5 stars hotel we stayed in China, he’d love to come back only to Mandarin Oriental.

Wow, I just had an incredible stay at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong in Shanghai! As a first-time visitor to this hotel, I was blown away by the luxurious experience and top-notch service they provided. From the moment I walked in, the friendly staff greeted me with warm smiles and made me feel super welcome. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and had all the modern amenities I needed. And let me tell you, the view of the Pudong skyline and the Huangpu River from my room was simply stunning! The dining options were amazing too – I enjoyed a mouthwatering Chinese feast at one of their upscale restaurants and had a scrumptious afternoon tea in their elegant lounge. I couldn't have asked for more variety when it came to food!I also loved their spa, fitness center, and gorgeous indoor pool – it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring Shanghai. Speaking of which, the hotel's location in the heart of Pudong made it super easy to visit top attractions like the Oriental Pearl Tower and the bustling shopping district on Nanjing Road.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my stay at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this hotel offers an unbeatable experience that you won't forget. I can't wait to come back again!

This was a fantastic hotel. Service was impeccable from the moment you check-in to the moment you check-out. I had an early flight and the concierge prepared me a breakfast to go, which was a very nice touch. Everyone spoke excellent English, which made it really easy to get around.

Allen Guo is the restaurant manager at the hotel's restaurant, Zest. He is a slim tall guy. I came here with my wife and my 16 months old son, we stayed for 5 nights, and ate at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner everyday, mostly because of the service we received for our son. Having baby doable meals and kids utensils, and just not having to worry about what our son can eat is a big plus for young family like us. I highly recommend him and his welcoming staffs here. They took a great care of my family. Besides, the breakfast buffet is pretty awesome.

Located at the north east end of pudong near the waterfront, beautiful views of the river and Shanghai bund on the opposite site.Unfortunately it’s rather sterile at night when you really want to be in Shanghai centre.Had room 2307 on the 23 floor, Club room with river views, probably will find better view of further down the corridor due to proximity view to the river.Warm welcome from front desk.Room was Spacious, and enclave elcloce with the mini bar area followed by the bedroom, study and seating .Toilet was the same size but more narrow with a clothes area unfortunately open plan and a separate bath tub, shower and commode.Has very good lighting panel and tech for lightning and phone charging and bedside butWas Disappointed that no usb chargerGreat bed, nice pillows.Nice bath, would be a nice touch with sunset views.Club- wonderful and spacious as warps all around. Food selection good: soup, bread, some Chinese starters, salads . Desert of ice cream and also western deserts and fruitsThomas the bartender was excellent with supply of cocktails every nightGood Chinese cooked breakfast but the others could do with more choiceGym is excellent- huge and next to the pool.Breakfast down in basement was good, food food selection but more on the average side .

The service is very excellent. The room is signature of Mandarin's room design which is very nice. The hotel has private limousine with in 2km which you can go oriental pearl tower and the bund tunnel.

My only complaint about this hotel is that I only stayed one night before a flight home to North America. This hotel is the epitome of first class service, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Excellent location allows you to walk to malls, the Pearl Tower or along the gorgeous boardwalk. We had to leave before their breakfast service began but they were kind enough to pack some juice, fresh fruit & pastries in take out bags for us to eat in our car to the airport. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled along the banks of the Huangpu River, this five-star hotel perfectly balances modern luxury with the charm of old Shanghai. The hotel's prime location in Pudong offers breathtaking views of the river and the city skyline. It’s a short drive from the iconic Lujiazui business district and the Bund, making it convenient for both business and leisure travelers. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, and designed with elegance in mind. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of the city, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the decor. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the marble bathrooms are a highlight, equipped with a rain shower, deep soaking tub, and luxurious toiletries.

Absolutely incredible experience and would highly recommend to anyone considering this as a hotel option. The hotel is fairly new to the amenities and rooms are incredible. The service level is absolutely top notch. We hosted some family members here and the overall comfort level was fantastic. As a tourist, this was a good location and the free shuttle bus is a real bonus as it takes you to most of the shopping malls and restaurants around the area. The free breakfast was lavish and had everything you can ask for. In room dining on the pricey side.Felt relaxed every time I walked out of this hotel.

Wonderful hotel with beautiful views, fantastic service and generous facilities in impeccable condition. They also focus on sustainability with wooden key cards and no single-use-plastic in the rooms. We loved it! Make a stop at the mandarin cake shop. It’s worth it.

Had an opportunity to stay at Mandarin Oriental Pudong for 3 days 2 nights. During this trip, I’ve had the opportunity to stay in 3 different hotels, I would say that MO has provided us with the best service that amazed me. 保姆 would put a towel(meant for floor) over the carpet near the bedside and slippers for us so our feet don’t touch the carpet 🥹 it made me feel so touched like MO cares about us in every detail. 保姆 also arranged my cosmetic items one by one which I am really thankful for. I’ve had a great time staying here. The breakfast was delicious especially the pancakes and wonton soup.

If you are used to hotels in the Mandarin Oriental chain, the Pudong Shanghai locartion will be a big disappointment. Although the structure is beautiful and the rooms are very spacious, it is now very outdated, with several things that don't work well (for example the sinks, while the showers were perfect). The breakfast is varied (Western and Chinese, as per the standard of hotels in this category), but the quality is rather low. The service is not particularly attentive or courteous (with the exception of the cleaning staff, who are very kind and always available), and the concierge is completely useless. The price is lower than usual Mandarin Oriental location, but this is coherent with the much lower level.

The pastry shop is badly managed.I ordered a birthday cake and was charged 140 for home delivery while the actual cost of the third party delivery they use is 72.The manager first explained the price fluctuations from the vendor and then conceded it as service charge.More disastrously, the birthday wish on the cake was missing.I’m still waiting for promised compensation.WHAT A BAD JOB

Setting.Gorgeous river facing hotel, in Pudong’s business district yet felt like an escape from the busy cityExplore.Shanghai@ the hotelWas here for work and got a really bargain corporate rate, my room was on the top floor facing the Bund (the river), the room itself was very nice I originally wanted to stay elsewhere my second night but extended once I saw my room (2515). The front desk staff looked stressed and acted very flustered every time I saw themFood & drinks.I only had breakfast here which was alright, but it was crowded, tables were really close together and the food was mass market quality, more canteen quality vs the 2 much better MOs in Hong KongPrices.USD 170 using our corp rateRating.4/5 I love MO hotels, very special place in my heart, but this one is a 4

It is probably the best option for travellers who want to stay in the Lujiazui area but without the hustle and bustle like the other properties. My father and I stayed here for 3 nights, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.To start, I'd like to talk about their amazing rooms and their breathtaking views. We stayed in room 1501, which had spectacular corner views as both the Oriental Pearl Tower and the skyscrapers across the Huangpu River were seen from our room. My favourite part of the room was probably the stand-alone hot tub with again, some phenomenal views across the Huangpu, where I spent most of my mornings and evenings during my stay. We also really appreciated that the room had plenty of storage space with a big walk-in wardrobe as well as a large fridge. When talking about the food, the M.O here had some fabulous options to choose from, including the Michellin 1 star Yong Yi Ting. This venue offered some very unique Jiangnan cuisine that isn't common outside of this region. From the cold porcini dish to the beef stew that immediately melted in my mouth, every single dish was sublime. This, of course, came with the consistently amazing service both the two times we visited here. (Kudos to the friendly general manager and to everyone who works at this restaurant) The breakfast experience at the Zest was also at another level, with a plethora of live cooking stations serving local dishes such as the pan-fried pork dumplings and the egg noodles. I would also recommend stopping by at the Mandarin Cake Shop for some scrumptious small bites like a hazelnut cupcake or some jasmine-orange mousse. When it comes to the location, despite being in the middle of the city, we found the property very tranquil and quiet during our vacation. The riverside promenade that wraps around the Pudong area starts right in front of the hotel, linking all the way down to lower Pudong. (About a 20-30 ish minute walk to the Oriental Pearl or the IFC mall) However, if this seems too far away, the hotel's Mercedes Van's complimentary car-service came in very handy to us and was about a 5 minute drive to Central Lujiazui. (Especially in the hotter afternoons)Overall, I'd choose this hotel over the multiple luxury properties that I've personally visited here in Shanghai due to its outstanding service and laid-back atmosphere.

The suite was large and clean (only the sofa had stains). The location is great. I like to turn off the lights at night and admire the Huangpu River. The hotel staff were very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. Parking is easy. I like it very much! !

The service is just so so, it cannot even be compared to other MOs like MO BKK or MO Tokyo. The hotel even forgot to place the welcome amenity and I need to ask for it (literally an empty table when I got in the room) - the booking I made states clearly it includes this and personalized note but nothing was there . So, please do not expect too much then it would be okay. By far, the worst MO.

Excellent experience. Although the hotel is located in Lujiazui, it's not very close to the subway station, about a 10-minute walk. the hotel provides a car service maximum 2km. The rooms are spacious, and the river view rooms offer nice scenery, although it's not the hotel with the best view in the vicinity. The surroundings are very quiet, making it perfect for evening walks and running. The breakfast options are abundant. The staff members are highly professional and never disturb the guests. Highly recommended their spa as well.

We had a wonderful stay at the MO Shanghai. My upcoming (big) birthday was acknowledged, and the room was stunning. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Only criticism would be the aircon didn't quite get cold enough for sleeping. But overall fantastic.
