Hurricane Milton Disaster Response Update - 10/10/2024
Our hearts go out to those impacted by Hurricane Milton. We are actively working with our partners in Florida to understand the extent of the damage, impact on pets and stand ready to support. We are now accepting Disaster Relief grant applications for partner organizations working in impacted communities. Both animal welfare and human services organizations with pet programming can apply for support via the PetSmart Charities Disaster Response Grant Portal.
We are thankful to our donors that have supported our partnership with American Red Cross. As a result, 71 animals were able to co-shelter with their families across 5 locations in Florida last night. If you’re in need of a pet-friendly shelter, please use this link to find one near you.

Hurricanes Milton and Helene Disaster Response Update - 10/09/2024
As Hurricane Milton approaches, we expect disaster response needs will grow in the coming weeks, and we need your help more than ever.
Disaster response fundraising is now active in U.S. PetSmart stores through Sunday, October 13, 2024. You can help by making a donation to PetSmart Charities at your local PetSmart store. Simply ask a store associate about donating to our disaster relief fund at checkout and your donations will go directly to assist those in the impacted areas.
We have granted nearly $300,000 for Hurricane Helene recovery, including over $125,000 in truckloads of pet food to Feeding Tampa Bay and Western North Carolina.
We’re closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and continue to work with national and local partners, including the National Animal Rescues and Sheltering Coalition and the American Red Cross, to provide support where it’s needed most.

We’re currently committing up to $500,000 to support recovery efforts, working closely with partners like ASAR Training and Response to provide critical relief for pets and families. PetSmart Charities continues to stay connected with national human service and animal welfare disaster response partners like the American Red Cross and the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC) to closely monitor the needs of people and pets in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Both animal welfare and human services organizations with pet programming can apply for support via the PetSmart Charities Disaster Response Grant Portal. Applications have been slowly received due to the power and cellular service outage. Despite these limitations, we have granted $30,000 so far and expect more grant applications to trickle in as power and cell service are restored and needs assessments and recovery efforts continue throughout the week.
