12 Crucial Things Beginners Should Know About Generation Zero 2. The game has three difficulty levels. Adventure (easy) mode, Skirmish (normal) mode and Guerrilla (Hard) mode. You can change the difficulty level anytime while in the game. 3. If you have any level of Avalanche Apex Connect account activated, you can access the Assignments computers from all major bunkers and some safehouses to get your assignment. 4. The game default is single or solo play. You can invite your game friends (max of 3) to join you on a multiplayer session. The multiplayer setting default is “Invite Only”. If you want to allow anyone to join you on multiplayer session set it to “anyone or anybody”. 5. The archipelago is where you can learn the basic mechanics and game play of the game. You can think of it as a training ground to prepare you for what lies ahead. Bots here are prototypes, they are the most stupid bots and the easiest to destroy. It is also here where you can earn XP (experience) to level up your character and earn skill points the easiest. You spend points to activate skills and perks available in the Skills Tree. Himfjall island, can only be accessed if you installed Alpine DLC. It is where the strongest and most intelligent bots reside. You should only attempt to fight here when you are confident you are ready and your weapons are strong enough.
1. Know the favorite locations where rivals will spawn so you can avoid it or go for it.
The map below was generated on purpose just to show the possible cluster locations for leveled rivals. This map can't be generated under normal play.
If you want another sort of a training ground (more difficult than archipelago but still easier that other regions) proceed to South Coast Region. Most of the bots here are still prototypes but you will also encounter stronger and smarter non-prototypes.
6. Play the game chronologically. Avoid jumping from missions to mission and jumping from DLC to DLC so you can follow the flow of the story.
The main mission from the original game do not have any icon to right when you view the Log menu from within the game, its first mission is “Break of Dawn and the last mission is “Behind the Curtain”. This link list all main missions and side missions but listed them per island or area.
Alpine Unrest DLC main mission have the icon of a bear to the right. “Not Alone” is the first mission and “The Resistance” is the last.
Fnix DLC missions have the icon to the right similar to an army private insignia. It starts with the mission “Where the sun sets” and ends in the mission “Good night”
NOTE: Other main and side mission will automatically get added to the log as they get triggered automatically while you move around map on any island. Some side missions will temp you to activate them as they get listed – don’t do them unless they are
within or nearby your current location.
Avalanche Apex Connect assignments are not missions.

10. Does difficulty affect loot? Visit link.
Changing your difficulty setting doesn't affect your loot from each machine drop. Playing with more players and the difficulty scaling with those players also will not affect each machine's chance of giving you more loot. However, onhigher difficulties the chance of spawning a Rival is higher. Rivals give some of the overall best loot, making playing on a higher difficulty setting that much more appealing when hunting for Rivals.
Additional information regarding the difficulty settings:
• Whenplaying with higher difficulty settings, players do less damage to the machines.
• Whenplaying with higher difficulty settings, the machines do higher damage to the players
• Whenplaying with higher difficulty settings, the machine's ability to locate players visually and through sound is increased
• Whenplaying with higher difficulty settings, the machine's accuracy when aiming at player is increased.
• Whenplaying with higher difficulty settings, there is no change to how many machines will spawn in the world.
